Sheep incursion

Work is yet to begin here on this subject. However, all the relevant data such as legal definitions and opinions, emails, spreadsheets, maps & photographs are in my possession, so the only added ingredient needed is time for me to present here an overview of this sadly ongoing saga.

Here are some numbers extracted from a spreadsheet to give you an idea of the scale of the problem.

I never go looking for sheep on my land. I only chase them out when I see sheep from my yard or garden, or when I'm out in the fields for some other purpose. I've taken to carrying my camera around because of the very high probability that I will need to use it to record these incidents. In fact there have only been two occasions on which I failed to come across sheep on my land when I've chosen to walk the fields. As recorded on the spreadsheet, those lucky days were the 1st and 16th November, 2006. It would therefore be reasonable to assume that there are sheep trespassing on my land every day.

These sheep form part of the Penlanwen flock, and their owners/keepers persisit in ignoring their legal obligation to keep their animals off other people's land.

The 24 (minimum) sheep evicted on the 20th May 2008 is the highest number on record. Click here to see most of them leaving. (The image will appear to the right of the text on this page.)
